We aim to be Enterprising, Open and Challenging. Is that possible in a multinational company with over 26,000 employees? At JTI, we believe we’re achieving our aim.
When we started doing business in Romania, back in 1993, we came here to stay and to grow, and this hasn’t changed. We transform raw tobacco into high quality cigarettes for the most demanding tastes, both locally and in more than 50 other countries. We make and sell some of the best-known brands locally; we’ve invested heavily in our business, so our factory in Bucharest is recognized within our global company for its efficiency and operational excellence.
Aside from our business success we are building solid relationships with local communities, supporting people in need. We also support high-profile events and cultural institutions in the belief that success needs to be shared. We are privileged to be part of the country’s social and cultural life, and we see our involvement as a badge of honor.
As Romania plays an increasingly important role on the world stage, JTI will continue to support the country on its journey. Through regular engagement with regulators and working with authorities to stamp out illegal trade, we aim for a predictable and balanced business environment, striving for a fair competitive context in which to conduct our business. This is, of course, for the benefit of our shareholders and our employees, but also for the benefit of the state budget, our social responsibility programs, and not least for the communities where we work and live.
~70% of the cigarettes made in our Bucharest factory are exported to more than 50 countries.
We make and sell internationally-recognized brands: Winston, Camel, Benson & Hedges, Winchester and Glamour.
