In 1971, a team bringing together decades of international experience set up an operation in Dagmersellen, in the canton of Lucerne. Their goal was to manufacture Camel cigarettes and grow their presence in Europe.
When the factory was built and inaugurated in 1971, it was the beginning of a journey. JTI now has one of the most modern industrial facilities in the canton of Lucerne, and is widely recognized as one of the region’s top employers.
Over the last 40 years, JTI has grown into a significant production facility and market organization with around 400 employees, of whom about 300 are directly involved in the production of cigarettes.
Exporting boxes to containers
Approximately 43 million cigarettes leave our Dagmersellen facility every business day. We ship all over the world in configurations that range from small boxes to entire shipping containers, and have invested in the expansion of our manufacturing and warehousing facilities over the last few years.
Shipping to various countries around the globe
About 19% of the cigarettes produced in Dagmersellen remain in Switzerland. Most are exported to more than 20 countries. It means that each day presents a logistical challenge that requires planning and precision. Our sophisticated distribution network ensures that our customers around the world get the quality they expect — on time.
Belief in success
JTI is an important employer in the canton of Lucerne with a team of 300 employees. Coming from many different backgrounds and nations, we celebrate our diversity, and also one thing in our employees have in common: a shared belief in success.
