Youth Access Prevention

Minors should not have access to tobacco, vaping or other nicotine products. This belief is central to JTI’s Code of Conduct, marketing practices, operational policies and the way we do business. While the proportion of children who smoke or vape remains low[1], it is vital this is reduced even further.

At JTI UK, we are committed to youth access prevention by supporting initiatives, campaigns and legislation which prevents minors from accessing tobacco, vaping or other nicotine products.

No ID, No Sale!

Established in 2004, the No ID, No Sale! campaign has raised awareness of the minimum legal age to buy age-restricted products, such as tobacco, through a free-of-charge retailer toolkit for in-store use. Our Business Advisers distribute No ID, No Sale! packs to retailers which include materials and advice to prevent under-age sales, reminding shop staff and younger customers that valid proof-of-age is required when buying tobacco, vaping products and other nicotine products. Sales units that we supply to retailers also carries the No ID, No Sale! messaging.

The No ID, No Sale! retailer pack includes:

  • A statutory A3 tobacco age notice, posters and other in-store display materials.
  • Best-practice guide for store staff.
  • CitizenCard application forms.
  • Refusal Register – to record everyone who fails to produce valid ID when asked, which shows enforcement agencies like Trading Standards that the retailer is enforcing a proof-of-age policy.
