JTI awarded global equality standard once again

JTI awarded global equality standard once again

First achieved in 2021, this prestigious certification from Ernst and Young (EY) underscores our dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. But wait, there’s more! This year’s assessment shows a significant improvement in making JTI more inclusive, compared to 2021.

So what is the Global Equality Standard (GES)?

EY’s GES is one of the first worldwide diversity and inclusion (D&I) certifications measuring equal opportunities and equal pay in the workplace. It allows employers like JTI to assess the extent to which DEI and equality are embedded throughout their global operations. We are pleased to be part of a select group of companies that have been awarded this certification, achieving some of the highest assessment scores possible on equal opportunities and equal pay.

It’s a standard we’re delighted to retain. Having undergone a robust 3-month assessment process including in depth interviews with various JTI stakeholders and members of our leadership team, we’re proud that all our hard work has paid off.

It's fundamental that are held accountable for our diversity and inclusion (DEI) efforts, as they are essential to the success of any business. Achieving the GES certification for equal pay and opportunities once again has made us very proud, however we recognize that our efforts are far from complete. Regular audits of our DEI policies and procedures, and close connection with our Employer Resource Groups (ERGS) are essential to ensuring that we are fulfilling our obligation to meet the requirements of our more than 46,000 employees worldwide.

Having our equal opportunities policies and procedures audited on a regular basis will help to establish a culture of trust within JTI and ensure we continue to serve the needs of our employees around the world.

To earn the GES accreditation once again means that our commitment to diversity and inclusion is there for everyone to see. We could tell you that we are doing all the right things, but when we’re assessed against a global standard, you don’t simply have to take our word for it.
