In 2019, JTI began cigarette production in Azerbaijan at Tabaterra factory, marking a major milestone for the country’s tobacco industry. This strategic step ensured that all JTI cigarettes sold in Azerbaijan were produced locally, highlighting the company's commitment to supporting local manufacturing and contributing to the national economy.
Since 2018, JTI has played a pivotal role in enhancing Tabaterra factory’s production standards and technological capabilities. With nearly USD 14 million invested in production and equipment enhancements, JTI has demonstrated its dedication to excellence, innovation and industrial growth within Azerbaijan.
JTI’s export initiative has significantly strengthened Azerbaijan's production and export potential – boosting the country's GDP and increasing its non-oil export share. Today, Tabaterra factory is the largest producer of JTI cigarettes sold in Georgia, reflecting the success of this initiative and JTI’s strategic vision for international growth.
