JTI Brazil acts are supported by a model of business that considers the need of consumers, collaborators, rural producers, partners, shareholders and the society. We always seek to fulfill assumed responsibilities and, especially, to exceed expectations.
Within this context, we engage in various initiatives related to the eradication of child labor, preservation of the environment and sustainability of communities. An example is the Grower Support Program, which invests in activities to improve the life of agricultural communities, overcoming problems, such as access to education and generation of other income opportunities.
The ARISE program, among other things, promotes children's access to education to progressively reduce child labor in tobacco farming.
We also monitor the whole process with the farmers to achieve the company's global standards of socioeconomic responsibility, established in ALP. Based on these parameters, measures are adopted to combat child labor, respect worker's rights and promote health and safety on the fields.
On the environmental circle, the highlight is the Reforestation Program that supplies seedlings or even the firewood used for curing and drying leaves, which results in greater energy efficiency and sustainable use of natural resources.
For JTI, initiatives focused on the environment, well-being in workplace and eradication of child labor go over and above simply complying with the law. These practices strengthen management that is truly responsible and beneficial to society.
