We are the largest employer within the German tobacco industry, awarded multiple times ‘Top Employer’ and the fastest-growing international tobacco company in ready-made-cigarettes in Germany.
JTI stands for quality and innovation. Our factory in Trier and the neighbouring Research & Development centre with its Global Functions continually ensure the highest quality of our conventional tobacco products. From Trier, we export products to the entire world, setting global benchmarks and we are also one of JTI’s most modern production sites. JTI also is developing, testing, and marketing products that have the potential to reduce the risks associated with smoking. We want to support adult consumers in their freedom of choice with our offering of combustibles and next-generation products.
Our employees are the key to our success. Regardless of their ethnic background, religion, age, ability, gender or sexual orientation, we want everybody at JTI to be themselves and be able to develop to their full potential. With 50 percent remote working, 20 weeks of fully paid family leave along with many other benefits, we offer our people a modern workplace and support their personal development. Being a multiple Top Employer Germany Award recipient and the GES certification (Global Equality Standard) awarded to us by Ernst & Young showcase our commitment to the very highest standards with regards to people and culture.
A sustainable approach to managing resources is in our own interests as a responsible company that wants to be successful in the long term. For this reason, we are focused on measurable objectives based on scientific standards. Our sustainability targets focus on our products and society in the broader sense, including people and the planet. 2030 is a particularly important year for JTI, by which time we are planning to be carbon-neutral in our own activities, and by 2050 we want to reach our net-zero target.
We operate with the highest standards of ethical behavior and expect all employees, business partners and anyone acting on our behalf around the world to live up to these standards. This is critical to protecting our employees, maintaining our reputation as a responsible company and ensuring our continued business success.
Our Code of Conduct applies to all individuals worldwide who are employed by a JTI entity, as well as to external employees, such as temporary workers, even if they are not directly employed by JTI.
The standards set forth in our Code are not exhaustive. They do not supersede local laws or JTI's operating policies, guidelines and procedures. If a standard in our Code differs from applicable laws, the more stringent standard takes precedence, and a standard must never violate applicable laws.
Failure to comply with the JTI Code of Conduct, legal obligations or our operating policies and procedures may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
JTI sets high standards for ethical behavior in all of its business relationships. We expect our employees, as well as our customers and suppliers, to these standards in everything they do in connection with JTI's business activities and to comply with all regulatory and legal requirements.
Compliance with these values is not only a legal obligation, but also an expression of our corporate responsibility and ethics. By implementing our complaints procedure, we ensure that:
Violations of our Code of Conduct
Human rights and environmental risks in accordance with the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG)
as well as indications of wrongdoing in accordance with the Whistleblower Protection Act (HinSchG) are recognized, reported and dealt with appropriately at an early stage.
