Kaizen: the spirit of continuous improvement

Operations

We maintain exceptionally high manufacturing standards at our factory in Almaty, where we produce a diverse portfolio of brands, including KISS, Richmond, Sobranie, Camel and Caster. We also manufacture three of JTI’s global flagship brands: Winston, MEVIUS and LD. Our products are sold in Kazakhstan and exported to Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Georgia and Iraq.

Continuous improvement is at the core of how we work. Building on Kaizen philosophy, we are implementing the Integrated Work System (IWS), a structured approach that helps us eliminate losses, improve equipment performance and strengthen workplace discipline. Every day, our teams challenge themselves to do better, whether through process improvements, new technologies or more efficient ways of working.

Since 2022, we have also installed additional manufacturing equipment, which has taken our production capacity to a new level.

We work closely with our colleagues around the world, learning from best practices and sharing great ideas. Every day, we collaborate with other JTI factories to standardize the entire manufacturing process. Our employees and experts also support JTI factories around the world by sharing their experience in improving manufacturing performance.

Caring for the environment

JTI aims to reduce emissions by 47% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. One of the key priorities is to increase the share of electricity consumed from renewable sources to 50% by 2030 and 100% by 2050. To achieve this goal, we use International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs), which confirm that electricity has been generated from renewable sources.

At the same time, the responsible use of resources in our daily operations also makes an important contribution. This includes switching off lights and electrical equipment when they are not in use, using lighting control systems with motion sensors to reduce electricity consumption, and following eco-driving principles aimed at reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions while improving road safety.

Achieving Zero Waste to Landfill is another key priority.

To support this goal, we have introduced separate waste collection in office areas, established an effective production waste management system, and partnered with a specialized company that processes tobacco waste through composting. These measures help significantly reduce the volume of waste sent to landfill.

Along with these major projects, we’re kind to the environment in lots of ways in our daily office work. We’ve replaced all the plastic cups we use with biodegradable ones, and we only use natural cleaning products. We stopped ordering plastic bags a long time ago and use environmentally friendly materials to manufacture our bags.
