JTI was among the largest investors honored with a state award at the investor recognition ceremony held on June 2 in the city of Konaev.
Over the past 10 years, the company has invested around USD 157 million in Kazakhstan’s economy and will continue to invest in the country’s development. Over the next three years, JTI plans to invest another USD 47 million. This decision reflects JTI’s deep confidence in Kazakhstan’s dynamically developing economy and the country’s stable business climate.
JTI’s factory in the Almaty Region is one of JTI’s most advanced production sites worldwide and manufactures products, including for export. Thanks to increased production capacity, export volume over the past five years has reached USD 450 million. The products are supplied to Central Asian countries, Mongolia, and Iraq. Since 2024, JTI’s product portfolio in Kazakhstan has also included Ploom, an innovative potentially reduced-risk product.
The company continues to expand the export geography of products manufactured in Kazakhstan and provides stable employment for more than 800 employees. More than a thousand additional people are employed in related sectors, including supply and distribution. As production expands, JTI’s economic contribution will also increase.
Over the past five years, JTI has paid KZT 800 billion in taxes to the national budget, primarily excise duties and value-added tax.
JTI’s interests align with the government’s objectives: together with the state, the company is combating the illicit trade in tobacco products, due to which Kazakhstan’s budget misses out on around KZT 36 billion in excise revenue every year.
JTI Kazakhstan expresses its gratitude to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the government, and local executive bodies for their long-standing support.
