Located near Łódź, the JTI factory in Stary Gostków is the largest and one of the most strategically important manufacturing centres within JTI's global network. Since JTI began investing in Poland in 2007, the site has evolved into an integrated production complex comprising several highly specialised manufacturing facilities.
The first factory, Ready-Made Cigarettes (RMC), commenced operations in 2009. Over the following years, the site was continuously expanded through investments in new production lines and capabilities, supporting both traditional tobacco products and Reduced-Risk Products (RRP).
A major milestone in the site's development was the opening of the European Flavor House (EFH) in 2014. Unique on a global scale, the facility serves as a sister plant to JTI's flavour manufacturing operation in Japan. The subsequent launch of the Other Tobacco Products (OTP) and RRP facilities in 2017 and 2019 further increased production capacity and broadened the range of products manufactured in Poland.
Today, the Stary Gostków manufacturing complex spans more than 155,000 square metres of production space and employs over 2,000 people. As the largest production hub in JTI's global operations, it is also one of the region's major employers.
The importance of the site extends far beyond the domestic market. Approximately 80% of its output is exported to more than 80 countries worldwide, underlining its strategic role in supporting JTI's international business.
JTI continues to invest in the long-term development of its manufacturing operations in Poland, combining capacity expansion with initiatives that support more sustainable operations. One example is the photovoltaic farm launched in 2024, which increases the share of renewable energy used across the production complex.
