JTI Vietnam Supports the Restoration of the Ta Kou Watershed Forest Ecosystem

JTI Vietnam and the Gaia Nature Conservation Center planted 500 trees at the Ta Kou Nature Reserve, contributing to the restoration of green spaces and responding to the 1 Billion Trees Planting Project.

Recently, the JTI Vietnam team and the Gaia Nature Conservation Center planted 500 trees at the Ta Kou Nature Reserve. This is a practical action by the enterprise to restore natural green spaces, aiming for the Net Zero emissions goal and joining hands with the Government's 1 Billion Trees Planting Project.

From Persistent Efforts on the Journey to Green the Planet

On the recent World Environment Day (June 5, 2026), JTI Vietnam collaborated with the Gaia Nature Conservation Center to plant 500 new trees at the Ta Kou Nature Reserve, Lam Dong province. This activity is part of the long-term project "Seeding a Sustainable Future," which the company has persistently pursued for many years.

These efforts stem from a clear awareness of the vital role of forest ecosystems in maintaining nature's balance. According to environmental experts, a healthy forest acts as a massive, entirely natural climate regulation machine. Forests not only provide safe habitats for thousands of native flora and fauna species and protect biodiversity, but they also directly protect humans.

Over the years, JTI Vietnam has initiated various environmental protection activities to help restore natural ecosystems.

Tree canopies and complex root systems help retain water in the soil, minimizing landslides and erosion after heavy rains—an increasingly pressing issue in our country's mountainous provinces. More importantly, forests are the most effective natural carbon sinks, playing a key role in mitigating global warming.

A Piece of the Strategic Vision

Cultivating green spaces at Ta Kou holds strategic significance, contributing directly to the overarching goal of achieving carbon neutrality in all manufacturing operations by 2030 and reaching net-zero emissions across the entire value chain by 2050. At the same time, this is also a specific action in response to the 1 Billion Trees Planting Project initiated by the Vietnamese Government, demonstrating the enterprise's responsibility to the country where it operates.

The journey of accompanying Gaia is part of JTI's strategy to fulfill its corporate social responsibility and realize sustainable development goals.

Sharing about this commitment, Ms. Ho Linh Lan - Corporate Affairs & Communications Director of JTI Vietnam, affirmed: "At JTI, we believe that sustainable development must go hand in hand with practical actions. Accompanying the forest restoration project at Ta Kou is not only a responsibility to protect the environment but also our long-term commitment to the community. We believe that to move towards the Net Zero goal, every business needs to start from the most fundamental steps, and planting these green sprouts today is the most sustainable investment for the future."

Agreeing with this perspective, Ms. Do Thi Thanh Huyen - Director and Founder of the Gaia Nature Conservation Center, added: "In the context of increasingly urgent environmental issues, the joint efforts of businesses play an especially crucial role in creating positive and long-term impacts. Every forest restored today not only brings direct value to nature but is also a way for us to protect water sources, preserve ecosystems, and ensure the quality of life for future generations."

Beyond tree planting activities, JTI Vietnam is continuously spreading the spirit of positive contribution to society through various programs, such as building homes for people with disabilities and communities affected by natural disasters, enhancing capacity for disaster prevention and climate change adaptation, providing access to clean water, and adopting green office practices. These initiatives are driven by the desire to better fulfill the expectations of stakeholders and create a better future.
