JTI Vietnam Gets Green Office Certified

Sustainability

JTI Vietnam was recently awarded the Green Office Certification by the Asian Institute of Technology in Vietnam.

As part of the company’s Net Zero Carbon Emissions program launched in 2019, JTI Vietnam set a target of 6% reduction in its offices’ carbon footprint. Not only has the company reached this mark, it has come even further. To date, the carbon footprint of JTI Vietnam offices has gone down by 26% from its baseline in 2019.

To achieve this, the company encouraged staff to commit to a shift in mindset and change in behaviour. Everyone in the JTI offices took concrete, eco-friendly steps, such as: turning off lights and equipment when not in use; setting consistent aircon temperature between 23-24 degrees; using natural light as much as possible; sorting waste; using soft files instead of printed ones; printing on both sides of paper; avoiding having to travel for meetings as much as possible; and many more day-to-day little actions that when pooled together, create significant impact on reducing the company’s carbon footprint.

This certification is just the first step in achieving the company's vision of net-zero carbon emission in its operations. The company remains committed to exploring and implementing environment-friendly projects in parallel with its sustainable business practices.

"We are proud of this Green Office achievement - a reflection of our focus on People & Supply Chain as part of JTI’s sustainability strategy. We hope that by raising environmental awareness among employees, they will not only sustain it within the walls of JTI Vietnam, but will carry through these best practices in their lives outside work. We also hope that this “green” achievement in our offices will create a ripple effect across our value chain."
