JTI in Romania

When we started doing business in Romania, back in 1993, we came here to stay and to grow, and this hasn’t changed.

JTI was the 1st multinational tobacco company established in Romania. Our factory produces for the local market and more than 70 other countries.

We transform raw tobacco into high quality cigarettes for the most demanding tastes. We make and sell some of the best-known brands locally; we’ve invested heavily in our business, so our factory in Bucharest is recognized within our global company for its efficiency and operational excellence.

Aside from our business success we are building solid relationships with local communities, supporting people in need. We also support cultural events, in the belief that success needs to be shared.

As Romania plays an increasingly important role on the world stage, JTI will continue to support the country on its journey. Through regular engagement with regulators and working with authorities to stamp out illegal trade, we aim for a predictable and balanced business environment, striving for a fair competitive context in which to conduct our business. This is, of course, for the benefit of our shareholders and our employees, but also for the benefit of the state budget, and not least for the communities where we work and live.
