LEGAL FRAMEWORK: LAW no. 361/2022 on the protection of the whistleblowers in the public interest (Law 361/2022)
The Business Ethics team, which operates from Geneva headquarter and manages the global "Your Voice" platform for reporting concerns of misconduct within the Japan Tobacco Group, hereinafter referred to as the "Designated Person", receives, records, reviews, conducts follow-up actions and resolves the reports of potential violations of the law raised by current and former employees of JTI Romania, business partners as well as any other person as identified by the Law 361/2022, generically referred to as "whistleblowers in the public interest".
The whistleblowers in the public interest may report potential violations of the law, as a result of some information obtained in a professional context in connection with JTI Romania*, following the procedure described in Law 361/2022, using any of the following channels:
In writing, in electronic format, via the e-mail address onebehavior@jti.com or by post to JT International SA, Rue Kazem Radjavi no 8, CP 1202, Geneva, Switzerland, for the attention of "Business Ethics Team".
Verbally, discussing with a member of the Business Ethics team, by phone at +41 22 703 07 77, M-F between 10.00 - 17.30, or in a face-to-face meeting, after settling an appointment within a reasonable time.
Any of the aforementioned channels can be used to raise legitimate concerns in good faith, in relation to the areas covered by Law 361/2022, without fear of retaliation, in confidence, within the limits defined by applicable laws and regulations, but we consider that reporting in written at onebehavior@jti.com it the most effective reporting channel. In addition, JTI Romania* employees can also report through the internal channels made available through the "Your Voice" platform, in accordance with the global "Your Voice" procedure.
If the whistleblower in the public interest considers that reporting through the aforementioned internal channels exposes him/her to the risk of retaliation or the impossibility of effectively remedying the violation, he/she may report a violation of the law through the external channels made available by the National Integrity Agency and other public entities which, according to special legal provisions, receive and resolve reports of violations of the law, within their field of competence, as mentioned in Cap. IV of Law 361/2022, including the institutions, bodies, offices or agencies of the European Union, as the case may be.
*JTI Romania is any of the two Romanian affiliated companies within JT group: JT International Romania Manufacturing SA and JT International (Romania) SRL.
