Strengthening environmental management
We align our environmental and energy management with globally recognized standards, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001. ISO 14001 requires us to consider environmental impacts beyond our direct operations to our entire value chain, while ISO 50001 helps improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions. We are also encouraging sustainable use of water by aligning with the Alliance for Water Stewardship Standard.
These standards guide us in building effective systems for continual environmental performance improvement.
Our approach to procurement goes beyond purchasing - it’s about driving positive change across our supply chain. We work closely with suppliers to enhance their environmental management and performance. By integrating sustainability criteria like energy efficiency and compliance with regulatory frameworks and JTI Supplier Standards, we ensure sustainability is embedded in our procurement practices.
Climate change represents a real risk to our business and communities worldwide. Throughout our value chain, increasing temperatures, extreme weather events and other climate impacts are already disrupting operations.
Tackling climate change is a shared responsibility. To play our part we’re reducing emissions by:
lowering the amount of energy we use in factories, offices and warehouses, through more energy-efficient equipment, infrastructure and processes
increasing the proportion of renewable energy we use
moving to lower carbon vehicles and fuels
working with our suppliers to reduce emissions in our value chain.
We’re focused on protecting water resources, cutting waste, and protecting and restoring biodiversity. To us, biodiversity means the variety of plant and animal life and the ecosystems in which they live. We’re committed to strengthening ecosystem resilience and advancing more sustainable farming practices that support soil health, water stewardship and the long-term health of natural environments.
